What Does “码住” (mǎ zhù) Really Mean?

码住 is a casual public “saving this” under a useful post—the comment-section version of making a note for your future self.

A private bookmark disappears into a folder. 码住 leaves the bookmark where everyone can see it. Under a checklist, recipe, or guide, the comment means “saving this—I’ll want it later,” while quietly telling the creator that the post was worth keeping.

That tiny gap between intention and follow-through is part of its charm. People 码住 workout plans they may never open again, but the default meaning is still sincere: this looks useful enough for my future self.
