Privacy Policy

Effective July 14, 2026

This policy explains how ChineseNuance, available at chinesenuance.com, handles information when you use the website and its account features.

Information we collect

When you use Google sign-in, Google provides a stable account identifier, your verified email address, name, and profile image. We store those fields to create your ChineseNuance account, display your account, and recognize future sign-ins. We do not request Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, calendar, or other Google API data, and we do not store Google access or refresh tokens. If you add a password, we store only a salted password hash. We may also store bookmarks, feedback you submit, session records, and short-lived anti-abuse records such as verification attempts and IP-based rate limits.

How we use information

We use account information only to authenticate you, operate your account, preserve your bookmarks, respond to feedback, protect the service from abuse, and improve user-facing ChineseNuance functionality. Google user data is not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, data brokerage, or training AI models.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell Google user data or other personal information. Information may be processed by infrastructure and email service providers acting on our instructions where needed to operate ChineseNuance, or disclosed when required by law, to protect users, or to secure the service. We do not transfer Google user data to independent third parties for their own marketing.

Security

We use HTTPS, restricted production access, signed HTTP-only session cookies, salted password hashing, one-time verification codes stored as hashes, and access controls intended to protect account information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention and deletion

Account and profile information is retained while your account remains active. Short-lived verification and rate-limit records expire automatically. You can permanently delete your account and associated bookmarks, feedback, and stored Google profile data from My Account → Password & security. You may also request help at [email protected]. Some minimal records may be retained when required by law or necessary to investigate security abuse.

Your choices

You may use Google sign-in or set a separate ChineseNuance password. You can stop using Google sign-in and continue with email and password after setting one. You can revoke ChineseNuance access from your Google Account permissions; revocation does not by itself delete your ChineseNuance account, so use the in-product deletion control when you want stored account data removed.

Children and international use

ChineseNuance is a general language-learning service and is not directed to children under 13. Account information may be processed where our service providers operate, subject to appropriate safeguards and applicable law.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date below. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
